Joseph Freda is the author of The Patience of Rivers, published by W.W. Norton. The novel was a Book of the Month Club alternate selection, and it won a 2003 Heritage Award from the Upper Delaware Heritage Alliance.

Freda's first novel, Suburban Guerrillas, won an Individual Artist Fellowship from the New Hampshire State Council On The Arts and was selected for Barnes and Noble's Discover Great New Writers program.

Short fiction and personal essay credits include The Kenyon Review, StoryQuarterly, Five Points, LIT, Coffee Journal, and others.

Freda lives in New York’s Upper Delaware Catskills with his wife Elise. He holds an M.A. in Fiction Writing from the University of New Hampshire.
